Hundreds of Organic Chemistry Topics Covered

OrganicChemistryTutor.com is a resource created for students to succeed. There are already hundreds of free tutorials covering almost every topic imaginable in a typical organic chemistry curriculum. By becoming a member you’ll unlock members-only sections that are seamlessly added to the topics when you’re logged in.

The topics cover everything from the basics of Organic Chemistry 1 to the complex multistep synthesis problems in Organic Chemistry 2. Each tutorial is composed with the US curriculum in mind. However, you’ll find relevant topics to what you’re studying in your Organic Chemistry class regardless of the curriculum.

  • Bonding and Resonance
  • Stereochemistry
  • Conformations
  • Reactivity (Kinetics and Thermodynamics of organic reactions)
  • Reactions of Alkenes and Alkynes
  • Substitution and Elimination reactions (SN1, SN2, E1, E2)
  • Conjugated Dienes, Pericyclic Reactions, Diels-Alder Reaction
  • Aromaticity and Reactions of Aromatic Compounds

You’ll get fresh content like practice questions with detailed answer keys and new tutorials weekly!

Active Learning vs Passive Lecturing

When taking Organic Chemistry most students face a very uncomfortable reality: you’re lectured one thing and you see something totally different on the test! In the lecture they give you a theoretical foundation. But during the test they ask you to solve the problems. But how are you supposed to do that if you’ve never done any practice solving those questions and coming up with those synthetic pathways? 😭

And trust me, your instructor is not trying to “catch” you or trick you. On contrary-the absolute majority of instructors there want you to succeed and move to the next step in your career! I mean, I’ve been an instructor for many years myself!

So, why such a disconnect between what is being taught and what is being tested?

Well, the culprit here is time. Or rather I should say-lack thereof! We only have maybe 3-4 hours to teach you Organic Chemistry concepts in class during the lectures per week. Maybe show you an example or two here and there. But learning Organic Chemistry is like learning a different language or learning how to play a musical instrument. No amount of theory will ever substitute practice. You can only learn Organic Chemistry via regular and deliberate practice!

This is where OrganicChemistryTutor.com comes in handy. All tutorials on this site are based on the actual exam questions and problems! The emphasis here is always on the practical aspects of Organic Chemistry. Here, I’ll teach you the theory and practice. This way you’ll be ready for the test no matter what sort of trickery your instructor is up to.

Can I Trust the Info on this Site?

You Bet!

I’ve been a professional tutor for over two decades and taught General and Organic Chemistry at a college level for many years before dedicating my career to helping students in a one-on-one setting and developing educational materials for this site.

You’ll be learning Organic Chemistry from someone who’s:

  • got a PhD in Chemistry and Chemistry Education
  • real practicing chemist
  • taught college Organic Chemistry for many years
  • knowledgeable about how to actually teach chemistry rather than mimicking tricks they saw someone use
  • tutored well over 1000 individual students to really understand what they struggle with
  • dedicated his entire career to Organic Chemistry

I can keep going, but I think you get the idea 😉 I know what it’s like to struggle through organic chem, and that’s why I built this site and to be the ultimate support system for Organic Chemistry students. I have more info about my teaching and tutoring style here.

How is OrganicChemistryTutor.com different from other sites?

Unlike many other resources I don’t follow any specific textbook or curriculum. I don’t assume you know Chapter 5 before moving to Chapter 6. Because there are no chapters. This entire site is structured as an open-ended resource that covers each topic independently of the curriculum. The topics are generally organized by the chemistry of specific functional groups. However, I also have dedicated sections for synthesis, spectroscopy, mechanisms, and similar topics that span many aspects of Organic Chemistry.

I’m also always available to help you navigate the website and point you in the right direction if you’re confused about a certain topic… or are not even sure what exactly you’re confused about. I’m here Every! Single! Day! to help you. Ok, I do take an occasional day off now and then, I’m not a robot 🤖 but I do interact with my students all the time. And yes, I count the website members as my students. So when you have a question, I’ll be personally here to help, not some random “expert” or AI.

Understand Organic Chemistry

  • With Clarity
  • With Support
  • With Strategy

Tired of being told that failure makes someone a teaching expert?

Yeah, me too. That’s why this site is built on research-backed methods, structured explanations, and repeatable strategies—not just someone’s anecdotal comeback story.

This site is NOT a redemption arc. NOT a fluke success story. It’s a collection of organic chemistry tutorials by someone who knows how this subject works—and how your brain works when it tries to learn it.

✋ Who This Site Isn’t For

  • If you’re looking for a “bro I bombed orgo so I totally get it, let’s vibe” energy—this isn’t it.
  • If you think understanding comes from simply watching videos—I have bad news for you: orgo is all about practice!
  • If you want to memorize your way to a passing grade without actually knowing what the hell is going on—I respectfully suggest you enjoy that C-.

👍 Who This Site IS For

  • Students who want clarity, system, algorithms, strategies, not guesswork.
  • People who know organic chemistry is hard and want tools, not just pep talks or tricks.
  • Anyone tired of being sold a story instead of a system.
  • Students who value interactions with a real person—not AI.

There’s a Ton of Free Info Here Already! Why Do I Need A Membership?

Fiar point! You will find hundreds of videos and tutorials on this site. And a lot of it does come for free! But here’s what you get with the membership:

  • Conceptual Blueprints: Break down complex reactions into repeatable frameworks. No fluff. Just chemistry that makes sense. Many tutorials have members-only sections that will be added once you become a member and visit the tutorials while logged in.
  • Practice with Purpose: Not just “more problems”—targeted problems that build mastery, not mystery. I design the practice questions with a specific purpose in mind. Each practice problem illustrates a certain concept, point of common confusion, a common misconception, or an common “exam trick” you might see on the test. You can see the questions and practice. But the answer keys and explanations are only available to the members.
  • Learning Science in Action: Spaced repetition, retrieval practice, metacognitive coaching—because the research matters. I design my tutorials with the Zone of Proximal Development in mind. I’ll give you enough information to challenge you but not too much to overwhelm you. Then, I’ll give you some practice to develop and master your skills. Rinse and repeat.
  • Support, not spoon-feeding: I won’t coddle you. But I will catch you before you fall face-first into yet another resonance structure.
  • Supporting the Community: You likely won’t need help with every single topic. Some concepts are easier while others take a bit more effort to get through. Your membership contributions help me develop more of those resources for you and other students to benefit from. The more members we have, the less time I have to spend coming up with yet another nail polish copolymer that doesn’t completely destroy your skin or causes allergic reactions (and yes, I do actually consult for a nail polish company among a few other chemical companies, and they are ok with how sarcastic I am about it 😆), and the more time I can spend developing these tutorials. As I’ve mentioned before, www.OragnicChemistryTutor.com is just me-Victor, not some big company.

➡️ Ready to actually learn orgo without falling into the charisma trap?

Sign up today—not because I failed organic chemistry and clawed my way up and I am now selling you the “you can do it too” story.
No.
Sign up but because I’ve spent decades helping students succeed in organic chemistry without guessing, and I will do all I can to help you too!
