Need help but don’t have time for a meeting?

Scheduling a meeting time with a tutor might be tough. Your instructor scheduled their office hour at the most inconvenient time as if they did it on purpose!
Psst, most likely, they did 😉

But you still have questions!

I can help!

So, what are your options?

  1. Scour the Internet, your textbook, chat with your classmates who are as lost as you are…. or
  2. Sign up for Victor’s Asynchronous Organic Chemistry Help!

Take advantage of the best of the two worlds: get your questions answered, do it at your own convenience without committing to any specific time!

Here’s how asynchronous organic chemistry help works:

  1. You sign up using the form below. If you see the form, it means I am taking students on-board. If the form is not available, it means my schedule is really busy right now.
  2. You’ll get a follow-up email. This is going to be the beginning of our chat.
  3. Reply to the email with your questions. To make our collaboration as efficiently as possible, I’ll ask you to send me your question(s) as a single pdf file. If you’re sending multiple questions, break them up to have only one question per page. If you send me multiple files or clump your questions together on the same page, it will delay my response.
  4. I’ll reply with feedback within 24 hours. If you send me a ton of questions all at once, it might take me longer to get back to you.
  5. We’ll keep this back and forth for as long as you need help.
  6. Once you’re done with your class, just send me a quick message, and we’re done!

Easy, right?

Here’s the deal: this isn’t a “give me the answer” service. I price this weekly organic chemistry feedback service lower than an hour of one-on-one tutoring with me because it’s meant to provide guidance and support—not do the work for you. If you’d like me to double-check your work, provide feedback on syntheses or mechanisms, or offer hints to get you unstuck, this service is perfect for you. But if you’re looking for someone to solve your homework or take-home tests, this isn’t the right fit.

My goal is to help you strengthen your understanding of organic chemistry and improve your skills—not cut corners. I take academic integrity seriously, and if I suspect a violation of your school’s policies, I reserve the right to address it appropriately. Let’s work together to help you succeed the right way!

Frequently Asked Questions

I charge $150/week for email feedback.

Technically, no. But be reasonable with the number of questions you ask and how much feedback you expect. The more questions you ask, the less feedback you get per question and the longer it takes.

I charge per week. So, if you would like to pause, you’ll still be on my roster till the end of your paid period even if you choose to ask a single question or not ask for any feedback whatsoever. If you choose to re-engage with the service later, we can restart your subscription at that point.

Absolutely. Let’s say, you’re stuck on a multi-step synthesis. I’ll initially give you hints on how to approach it. Then, once I see your work, I’ll give you feedback on your reactions, what works, what doesn’t, etc. Finally, we can talk about fine-tuning. Or, let’s say you’re having a hard time with spectroscopy problem. We’ll first look at what the data tells you. Then, if you’re still confused, we’ll brainstorm possible structures and how to pick the most appropriate one based on the data.

No, you don’t have to, but having access to extra practice problems and workbooks might be useful 😉

Interestingly enough, but this is the most common type of email support most of my asynchronous students ask for. I routinely prepare practice questions for my asynchronous students based on the difficulties they have with the material. Typically, this happens when the textbook questions differ from how your instructor writes the exam questions. So, despite working on the textbook questions, some students don’t feel prepared for the tests.

How did you hear about Victor?

What is the full name, NOT an abbreviation!
Please, tell me the author, name (if it is different than “organic chemistry”) and edition. This part is important for me to know b/c I would have to adjust what and how I tell you in my feedback based on the specifics of your curriculum.
Is it your first time taking organic chemistry?
